LULUS:
“Apparently, he had heard our (faster) version of ‘What Goes On' and kind of approved of it, so he agreed to do it. Basically, we met five or ten minutes before we went on. He didn’t want to sing, because we didn’t have a rehearsal, so he said, ‘I’ll just play guitar in the back.’
New Jersey jangle'n'strum sensation The Feelies playing in 1988 at a Long Island alternative radio station listener party - with a twist'n'a'shout! Lou Reed was asked to play the event and requested The Feelies as his band for the evening. What has been excavated here for your delight is a wonderfully raucous string of revved out takes on sacred Velvet Underground hymns and a revelatory appearance from the street messiah himself on vocals about midway through. Are they booing me? Uh, no, they're saying Lou, Lou!
