LOTHARIO - "HOGTIED" CS

LULUS: Hanky panky punky garage rock music is Lothario’s jam. Razor thin bass holds everything together (just), megaphone-through-a-prison-phone vocals sneer over the lippy guitar that snuffs along at its own pace, following only its own loose rules. The performance is (almost) all handled by the seemingly perpetually leather-and-steel-clad femme fatale Annaliese with a rotating cast of drummers submitting service to their musical domme from their temporary throne. This queen’s court of different drummers creates an interesting ever-changing dynamic and validates the notion that percussion distinctly moulds the feel of any given riff according to said skin banging jester’s whims and aptitude/ineptitude. Pucker up and kiss the heel if you dare.

LOW AMBITION: You feel the sweat running down your face, your black leather jacket sticking to your skin as you and a room full of sweaty creatins ricochet off each other dancing in ecstasy, and you look up and see a band of charged up punks muscling through their locked-in, catchy as hell set as beers are tossed through the crowd exploding like grenades- and you fucking know Lothario are so back! That’s right! The group have crash-landed with a new 13-song barn burner of an LP titled “Hogtied” out on Under The Gun Records, and it's a blistering display of focused, ear-wormy, no-frills garage punk songs designed to blow your goddamn mind.

The band kicks it into high-gear on “Hogtied” with an array of stompy, buzz-saw hits that run the gamut of Ramones meets Bikini Kill style street punk bangers, dancey indie sleeze-esque bops, and heart-breaker rock n roll heaters. You can expect to hear locked in and memorable fuzzy riffs, over tightly-wound pummeling drums, and hyper-infectious lyrical hooks tunneling into your psyche like CIA mind-control tactics.

The record is captured on a LOUD, punchy recording that’s turned up to 69 and basically sounds like a cement truck driving through an oil refinery. Lothario are at peak radioactive level performance, writing their best songs yet, and ready to recruit you into the Lothario army- sign me up, hand me a beer, and crowd surf me to the front lines- I’m ready to fight for my right to Party.
