Loyal heads and followers, let us introduce you to DMT Club - LSD’s Club’s rawer, wilder, spiritual, fried subsidiary where anything goes as long as it’s real.

Lewis F Hodgson has long been a fixture of Melbourne’s punk scene, best known as vocalist, songwriter and guitar slinger for bands such as Beat Disease, Cuntz, Whipper, The Snakes and CIVIC. 

Scorched into magnetic celluloid we present a rare solo performance of original tracks alongside a selection of covers showcasing songs love, anger and heartbreak recorded at North Melbourne’s Town Hall Hotel in October 2024. An exemplary memento of the type of vibrant front bar gigs that have become a proud hometown tradition. 

Set opener, Lou Reed’s ‘Oh Jim’, serves as a nod to late guitar icon Rowland S Howard and those few lucky enough to catch his solo shows will recognise his still burning arrangement he opened every single one with. 

Lost solo tracks from bands that burned too bright, ‘Passionate Man’ and ‘Riding Shotgun’ are full of dynamic swagger while Charlotte Zarb’s Farfisa additions on ‘Satan’s Faded Stars’ take the set into buzzy metronomic minimal wave territory. 

CIVIC tracks ‘Trick of the Light’ and ‘Kingdom Come’ breathe and hit differently in their solo form. 

These nine tracks howl peak and swagger as if possessed by the ghost of Jeffrey Lee Pierce himself and may transport you back to Lewis’ first legendary solo set in A Fan’s Notes court yard many summers ago. This set features a truly special nod to two of the late great inspirations; including Rowland S Howard’s rearrangement of Lou Reed’s ‘Oh Jim’ which he graced the Town Hall Hotel with himself.
