LULUS: Barcelona’s Irreal are an underrated band around here. Proper protest music dosing you with equal parts glowing hot fury and stone cold steadiness. They clearly nod towards the titans of disindustry and have absorbed and wrung that sound into something of their own; but most importantly they have not neglected to have sick bloody riffs. Their records don’t exactly capture the chaotic crust crumbling of their live power, but that doesn’t always matter because the aforementioned stone cold steadiness does a lot of the heavy lifting. You don’t listen to Discharge’s HNSNSN and go “wow this is loose and uncontrolled” you go “goddamn this is staunch as hell”. And seriously, for the love of all that is good and right… play it LOUD!! ACTUALLY LOUD!!!

LVEUM: Following up their 2020 EP Barcelona IRREAL delivers eight troglodyte anthems of radikal hardcore punk. Borrowing heavily from the Hear Nothing era DISCHARGE and echoing equally Suomi classics DESTRUKTIONS/ MELLAKKA and AOQ demo era CRO-MAGS, IRREAL creates a maelstrom of hypnotic feedback. Era Electrónica Catalan and Spanish anarchist lyrics bind the bands primitive sonic assault, delivering a modern hardcore punk record without an ounce of modern attitude. Punk as it is meant to be; nasty, aggressive, political and uncompromising.
