NIC STEYGER - "RICE ON WHITE" ZINE

‘Rice on White’ is Nic Steyger’s first exploration into combining writing and imagery. A self published zine that encompasses a selection of poems written between 2019 and 2021 alongside a series of replicated images, a collection of dissipated motifs that provide a contextual anchor. 

Written after moving to regional Victoria and living outside the city for the first time in a decade, ‘Rice on White’ was in part catalysed by the exigency of late stage capitalism and its effects on the memory of the country town. A lament at the ironic relationship between proximity to the bush / the stark appearance of colonial structure and ultimately how vulnerability and love at that intersection can be just as powerful.

All printed on recycled paper and hand sewn. Limited number of copies. All proceeds will be donated to Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd.
