INOYAMA LAND - “WATER DELAY SYSTEM” SHIRT
In 1983, Haroumi Hosono worked with Japanese ambient composers Inoyama Land to produce their record Danzindan-Pojidon for his record label Yen. During the production of this record, Hosono developed what he called the "Water Delay System". Used on five of the album's ten tracks, the system used three speakers and a subwoofer submerged in water, the playback of which was then recorded by a submerged microphone and mixed back into the original tracks. It is by this method that Hosono attempted to recreate the sound of the listener diving into these tracks, on an imagined Inoyama Land.
This shirt pays homage to the Water Delay System, featuring Hosono's original blueprints for the system on the front and a photograph of the completed setup on the back. Direct printed in aquatic ink on Gildan shirts.
